If the Shoe Fits
by Carla Loots
Our most glamorous obstacle is a sweeping, oversized high-heeled wedding shoe – a gleaming sculpture guests must putt through. But it’s more than a playful challenge. The shoe carries a deeply personal touch. Its shape and gleaming finish were inspired by Carla’s very first formal dance shoe – the one she wore on a night filled with music, elegance and nervous excitement. When we began designing the course, we wanted each feature to feel like part of a real love story. We studied the curve of the heel, the silver sheen and even the delicate buckle, translating those details into a sculptural gateway for guests to putt through.
It’s more than a playful challenge; it’s a tribute to a cherished memory of stepping into a new stage of life, now re-imagined as a moment for your friends and family to share on your wedding day. On our course the shoe becomes a gateway, its curved arch echoing the way a bride crosses into married life. As the golf ball glides into the heel, guests are reminded of the excitement of a first dance, a first kiss, a first adventure together. Couples often pause to photograph themselves beside it, laughing as they compare their own shoes to the sculpture.
We designed it so each putt feels like a small journey – an invitation to step boldly, yet with grace, just as marriage invites two people to walk forward together. When your friends and family play this hole at your reception, they’re not just playing a game; they’re participating in a romantic ritual of “stepping into” your story.
