Engagement ring
by Carla Loots
Few symbols in a wedding are as powerful or as universally recognized as the ring. It is a perfect circle, with no beginning and no end, and has represented eternity for thousands of years. The tradition of exchanging rings dates back to the ancient Egyptians, who believed the circle symbolized everlasting love, and the hole in the middle represented a gateway to the future.
That timeless symbolism is what inspired us to create one of our most iconic obstacles: the Engagement Ring. When we designed this obstacle, we wanted it to be more than playful – we wanted its beauty and its meaning to resonate with the essence of a wedding. Guests can laugh as they test their aim and can pause for photos, but in the back of their minds, they’re reminded of why everyone has gathered: to witness a love story that promises forever. They are reminded that marriage is not just about one moment, but about the countless small steps, challenges, and joys that make up a lifetime together. Just like in mini golf, patience, teamwork, and a little bit of laughter can go a long way.
What makes the Engagement Ring obstacle so special is the way it blends joy with symbolism. As guests play through its golden circle, they are not just playing a game — they are participating in a light-hearted reflection of the vows being made that day. It’s a chance for friends and family to feel connected to the couple’s love story in a fun, interactive way, while also celebrating the meaning behind the circle: a promise without end.
This obstacle captures both the fun and the significance of the moment. It’s a gentle reminder that love is both an adventure and a partnership — one perfect putt at a time.
